With the warmer days becoming more consistent it is more important than ever to stay hydrated!
The Human body consists of 60-70% water. Not only is it crucial for nutrient transport, water also acts as lubricant, shock absorber, thermo-regulator and more. It is no wonder staying hydrated is essential to feeling good.
Australian Dietary Guidelines recommend adequate intake (AI) of water is: 3.4L/day for men 2.8L/day for women this is 8-10 cups of water/day. (1) Some of this will be consumed in foods and other beverages.
The following are warning signs of dehydration are:
• Increased thirst
• Headaches
• Loss of concentration
• Brain fog
• Fatigue
Some tips for increasing your water consumption in the day:
• Always have a water bottle with you / on your desk.
• Snack on high- water content foods such as fruits and veg .
• Have a glass of water with each meal.
• Use an app to track or remind you.
