Lateral Epicondylitis commonly known as Tennis Elbow is a repetitive strain/ over use injury. Unsurprisingly it can be caused by excess tennis or sports however it is not isolated to this.

Tennis Elbow may also present in carpentry, typing, painting, and even knitting. Pain is often felt on the outside of the elbow joint, this is where inflammation or micro-tearing may have occurred. Pain usually appears mild gradually worsening as time goes on or as aggravating activity continues. Pain is often worse with shaking hands, gripping, lifting or opening door/ jars. Patients will often report a lack of grip strength in the affected arm.

Your chiropractor is qualified to assess/diagnose and manage lateral epicondylitis for you. With any repetitive strain injury rest is crucial for recovery. Asides from avoiding aggravating activities, manual therapy including mobilization to the joint and soft tissue release to promote muscle recovery prove to assist in recovery.
