Motor neurons are the nerve cells responsible for allowing us to complete voluntary actions like moving, speaking, breathing and swallowing. Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is the degeneration of those motor neurons, resulting in muscle gradually atrophying.
It is estimated MND affects 2000 Australians, most commonly in the 50 to 60 year age group. However, MND may be diagnosed in adults at any age. The cause is currently unknown and there is no cure.
To increase awareness and funding for much needed research, MND NSW are hosting a walk in Wagga Wagga on the 15 Oct 2017 9:00 am. The walk will be held at Apex Park and is roughly 5.5km.
